TDC Group, as one of the biggest global high-speed cutting tools manufactures, its research and development (R&D) center is also taking a responsibility of industrial basic and prospective research. This brings TDC Group enough soft power to seek independent intellectual property rights in key technology areas in the future, lead industry technical progress, and occupy a strong position which can’t be shaken in the top of world of cutting tool technology. Under the guidance of corporation strategy, R&D center develops its positioning functions which are “Enhance platform building and cultivate core technology; Improving based on process optimization, service production and market; Pay attention to customer value, lead market demand”. There are “Cutting tool material”, “Cutting tool structure design”, “Surface treatment” and “Advanced manufacturing technology” 4 R&D teams, and 5 labs: “Material physical and chemical inspection”, “Surface treatment analysis”, “cutting tool inspection”, “Cutting performance testing” and “Advanced manufacturing technology machining”.
Currently, there are more than 70 researchers in R&D center, 30 more of them are working on core technology researching and development, 10 overseas visiting experts. R&D center also conduct research cooperation with Dalian University of Technology and other institutions. R&D center has the world’s advanced research equipment more than 70 sets, and has 35 completed or ongoing research and development projects, most of accomplishments have been converted into products. Since its establishment in 2007, R&D center has won a total of 14 technique patents, 13 utility model patents, 1 design and exterior patent, and another 4 key approved “Liaoning overseas experts team” projects, obtained provincial and municipal special financial support. R&D center has been approved as a “Dalian efficient cutting tools laboratory” in 2011.
